March 8, 2012 - SXSW Trip
We are headed to SXSW this week! We're going to check out some music, some awards parties, and explore the great city of Austin, Tx. We're also very excited, because our crowdsourced music video is up for a SXSW Interactive Award. If you haven't seen it yet, check it out HERE.

Feb 19, 2012 - Live Radio Performance
We were on WZLX recently for an on-air interview and performance. It was a blast, and we really enjoyed meeting Angelle Wood and her Boston Emissions crew. Check out the show on Sundays at 10pm (EST).

Jan 25, 2012 - SXSW Award Nomination
Holy Cow! Our first music video ever has just been nominated for a SXSW award!
This is pretty unbelievable! We're among four other finalists, including a short film by Robert Rodriguez (starring Kobe Bryant, Bruce Willis, and Kanye West, among others). We're very grateful to everyone that helped us put this project together. Being nominated for this is a great honor, and we're very excited!

Jan 10, 2012 - Photos
In true DIY fashion, we took this picture ourselves, without a photographer. Its hard to tell from this picture, but this shot is a reflection. We found a giant mirror and we set it up outside to get this effect.

Dec 31, 2011 - CDs Have Arrived!
Its official, our record comes out on Feb 7, 2012. You can PRE-ORDER a copy now!

Nov 21, 2011 - New Media
As part of a SXSW submission, Vivian Darkbloom teamed up with the MIT Media Lab to create a dynamic, geo-spatial representation of the "Know Your Exit" crowdsourcing project. The project is nearly finished, and we should have a release date for this soon. We apologize for sitting on so many projects for so long, but grad school is a demanding mistress!

Oct 22, 2011 - Record Release!
Good news everyone! Our record is finally finished! Stay tuned for news about release dates and performances.

Aug 1, 2011 - 1100 Tracks Uploaded!
Our crowdsourcing music project is finished! We ended up compiling 1100+ contributions from over 36 different countries. The results sound AMAZING!
There are some truly amazing singers out there!
Head to our crowdsourcing page to listen to the results and explore the map.
May 1, 2011 - Crowdsourced VD
Our record is nearly finished! For the last track, we've been collecting hundreds of audio clips from people all over the world. We have contributions from the UK, Europe, India, Asia, and even Saudi Arabia! Please join the party - anyone can sing on a Vivian Darkbloom record. (You just need Flash 10 or higher, and a computer mic). Go HERE to check it out!
January 10, 2010 - Fan Vids
Why not put VD tracks in your YouTube videos? Turn your ordinary YouTube vids into masterpieces - just add a little post-punk indie-rock goodness! Some of our fans have taken this advice, and we're posting our favorites so far.
The first video, posted by CassieInTheSkyX, is an intriguing form of video text-messaging. I'm not sure I've ever seen this kind of communication technique. The second video was posted by MagicMattos2010, and uses "Cold War" as the backdrop to a time-lapse game of Risk. Yay imperialism!
October 15, 2010 - TechCrunch Feature!
VD's Rob Morris was videotaped at MIT today and, within a few hours, the video was picked up by TechCrunch - a prominent technology blog w/ approx 1.5 million followers. His prototype is still in the works, but he plans to do another video tutorial showing people how to get it to work. Its not that difficult, and its a lot of fun! Sign the mailing list to the right and he'll send you an update in a week or so. Or, you can simply follow us on FACEBOOK and Rob will post updates there. Happy hacking!
October 7, 2010 - More Setbacks!

For those of you following our FACEBOOK
page, you might have heard about our latest setback in the studio. Sadly, our mixing engineer, the man with the golden ears,
is now the man with purulent, massively-infected ears. His infection was truly ghastly,
forcing his doctors to puncture his ear-drum with a hypodermic needle.
Needless to say, he
will not be working for a few weeks. He expects a full recovery soon enough, but until then the Darkbloom full-length will remain
unmixed and unmastered.
September 10, 2010 - Drummers!
It seems like we've been recording this record for EVER! Official tracking sessions are now finally over. We are indebted to all the musicians that helped make this record possible. Most importantly, we'd like to thank our drummers. All four of them:
- Loren Bienvenu
- Cristiano Castellitto
- Mike Forrester
- Mike Levesque
August 25, 2010 - Piano Tracking
Tracking this Yamaha was no easy feat. In true DIY style, we managed to do this whole session for free. The catch? We had to record late into the evening and time each take in between fire alarm testing.
June 1, 2010 - Guitar Tracking
Rob Morris practices a lead line in the studio. We love the tone of this guitar! Scott's got some beatiful guitars, and this vintage Gretsch was one of our favorites.

April 21, 2010 - Studio Shots
Brian Skerratt's a man of many talents. When not laying down bass tracks at the studio this week, he took some nice photographs.
Here's Rob playing on a gorgeous vintage strat (which, incidentally, used to be owned by that guy from The Black Crowes).
April 7, 2010 - Recap of our show with Airborne Toxic Event
We played a show w/ Airborne Toxic Event at the Roxy, err Royale, or whatever its called. It was super classy.
Ryan's Smashing Life Blog
took some great photos, and
Boston Musings wrote a STELLAR and Amazing review.
